Happy New Year! In December, I shared part one of the two-part Reflection – Intention Cycle series. If you missed it during the hustle and bustle of the holidays and year-end activities, first read “Reflection.” This month we’re featuring “Intention,” which focuses on creating specific and measurable actions that demonstrate lessons learned in “Reflection” to further success.
I asked myself: “How will I use my reflection to inform my intention?” and “What specific actions will I take to hold myself accountable?”
For each “Reflection Lesson” detailed in Part 1, I developed the corresponding “Intention Actions” as 2023 Goals:
Right Client Mix: I am fortunate to begin 2023 at capacity by expanding my scope with existing clients. This year, I commit to assessing clients and prospects quarterly for alignment with Culture Spark’s unique offering. In addition, I will use project work to gain experience with potential clients to ensure alignment of values.
- Nurture my network: The downside of working at capacity is that my trusted network collects dust. Therefore, I commit to scheduling at least one business development 1-on-1 meeting each week.
- Narrow my focus: In conjunction with #2 above, I will use those 1-on-1’s to share case studies to expand my network’s understanding of situations I’m uniquely qualified to remedy. By arming my trusted referral partners with examples of how Culture Spark helps leaders build culture as competitive advantage, I expand my message and my reach.
In summary, reflection and intention are two parts of an invaluable exercise to furthering success. I invite you to join me in defining and committing to specific actions that will allow you to further your success in 2023. This exercise is most meaningful when it is done in a group with collective accountability. Team members make great fans and accountability partners, supporting individual goals and the specific behaviors needed to achieve them.
Need additional inspiration to get started? We’ll be sharing some of our favorite resources on social media this month. Head over to Culture Spark’s LinkedIn page where we will be sharing resources to further your success. First up, “Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time” by Brian Tracey. He says, “Goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievement. The bigger your goals and the clearer they are, the more excited you become about achieving them. The more you think about your goals, the greater becomes your inner drive and desire to accomplish them.”
