Foster Growth

I believe in process. I believe in four seasons. I believe that winter’s tough, but spring’s coming.  I believe that there’s a growing season. And I think you realize that in life, you grow. You get better.

You may have heard the old adage: A CFO says “What happens if we train them and they leave?” The CEO replies, “What happens if we don’t, and they stay?”

Spring is all about growth, and it’s a great time to remember that no matter where we are in our personal and professional lives, there is always room for growth. Growth is what happens when we step outside our comfort zones. It is uncomfortable, but also exhilarating. Our employees want growth, as well.

More now than ever, employees consciously seek out managers who care enough to invest in their growth. It’s a great way to keep employees engaged. If you grow them, they are more likely to stay and share the benefits of their new skills with the company that cared enough to help them grow.

I learned to always take on things I had never done before. Growth and comfort do not coexist.
