Slideshare: A Reference to References

October 9, 2018

Earlier this year, I posted a SlideShare on the right way to resign a job, based on recent real-life experience.  This is another in that series, providing best practices on preparing for reference checks in your job search.

Checking references has, for some reason, lost its importance with some employers over the years.  But I find it to be an important part of the selection process.  Knowing how to check references can help you learn a lot about a candidate, even avoid a bad hire.

To that end, here is my advice on how to prepare for reference checks in your job search, based on real experience of some recent reference checks I’ve conducted first-hand.  You can’t make this stuff up!
